Knitting Needle

17 Shevat 5771 (01/22/2011); Connecticut

I had just finished praying the Amidah and was continuing personal prayer. All of a sudden, as I looked up I realized that I was seeing that the ceiling was gone(!), replaced by the sky, painted in the most beautiful deep blue. I was transfixed, standing there staring at that blue! Then I realized that a person was standing high in that sky out in front watching me. A person of light who never said a word; standing at the highest point toward the front holding a six foot tall knitting needle as if it were a thick shafted staff, pointing up.

All of a sudden the person of light came down and started moving from person to person using the needle to string each person together with a black thread. He would tap each person on the shoulder and the black string would stick and he would go to the next person and do the same. Soon he had strung the entire congregation together with this black string. When finished He resumed standing above and to the front of the Congregation. He was holding the needle as if it were a six foot staff with the string flowing from him to the tip of the staff and then down to each person in the congregation. It was as if every member of the congregation was a beautiful bead connected by the string to each other and then to the person of light.

Curious about the string I asked to see it close up. Instantly the black string was enlarged to the size of motion picture film. What I saw made me pause in delight! It was actually Hebrew letters connected one to another to form a long string. Then I realized that I was looking at the Torah with one Hebrew letter after another strung in a long line forming “the string”. So “the string” was actually the Torah strung Hebrew letter to Hebrew letter making a long string. When reduced the bold ink made it seem primarily black. What a vision of joy! The person of light standing above and in front holding the needle like a staff with the Hebrew letters of the Torah forming a long, long string knitting together the entire Congregation to Him.

"'Everyone who is native-born must do these things in this way when he brings an offering made by fire as an aroma pleasing to YHWH. For the generations to come, whenever an alien or anyone else living among you presents an offering made by fire as an aroma pleasing to YHWH, he must do exactly as you do. The community is to have the same rules for you and for the alien living among you; this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. You and the alien shall be the same before YHWH: The same laws and regulations will apply both to you and to the alien living among you."

Ephesians 2:17-20 (Notes Aramaic English NT Page 888)

"And he came and proclaimed peace to you afar off and to those near: Because by him there is access for us both, by one Spirit, to the Father. Wherefore you are not strangers nor sojourners, but you are fellow-citizens with the Set Apart believers and of the household of Elohim. And you are built upon the foundations of the Shlichim and the prophets; and Y’shua the Mashiyach has become the head of the corner in the edifice. "

Exodus 31: (Complete Jewish Bible)

16 The people of Isra’el are to keep the Shabbat, to observe Shabbat through all their generations as a perpetual covenant.

17 It is a sign between me and the people of Isra’el forever; for in six days Adonai made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day he stopped working and rested.

Isaiah 56: (Complete Jewish Bible)

6 “And the foreigners who join themselves to Adonai

  • to serve him, to love the name of Adonai,
  • and to be his workers,
  • all who keep Shabbat and do not profane it,
  • and hold fast to my covenant,

7  I will bring them to my holy mountain

    and make them joyful in my house of prayer;

    their burnt offerings and sacrifices

    will be accepted on my altar;

    for my house will be called

    a house of prayer for all peoples.”

Matthew 12: (Aramaic English NT)

8. For the Master of Shabbat is the Son of man.
