Event 3, For Your Name's Sake

20 Sivan 5771; 22 July 2011; Columbus, Ohio

Six pm, not yet Erev Shabbat, I set out for my 6 mile walk. At the 3/4 mile mark I almost reach the corner of Granville & Hamilton and see the wind blowing dirt out of the construction site. The wind and dirt are blowing so fiercely that cars can't safely navigate the huge intersection. When I arrive at the intersection and turn north onto Hamilton, I note the dark clouds. Still doggedly determined I persist on my walk, because in my human estimation, it looks like the clouds will blow over.

After walking about 100 feet I hear -The-VOICE-, commanding, persistent without let up, three times: “Turn back! Turn back NOW! Turn back! Turn back NOW! Turn back! Turn back NOW! Again that VOICE! To know it! To rightly discern it! To immediately obey it! Yet being new at it, I hesitated but then finally yielded turning diagonally across the construction site to save time. 3/4 mile to go.

As I walk home things turn the way I HAD NOT EXPECTED! The wind is kicking up a gale. Lightening is striking. Black clouds are lowering to the ground. …to the ground as if a tornado is coming!! I am terrified and pray.

YAH please preserve me and give me something to write for your NAME'S SAKE. Help me know that it is indeed YOU speaking! I pray and beg of YOU! Keep me dry and safe all the way home! The moment that I am home safe, please open the heavens and let it pour! Then I will know that it is you who is speaking to me. YAH, keep me safe and then open the sky so that I may write to your glory!

Three blocks to go. I am terrified of the lightening and black clouds and yet I move forward. It’s smarter to keep going rather than seek shelter but I am still terrified. I pray trusting YAH to keep me safe.

Two blocks! Terrified but dry and safe.

One block! The black sky is on the ground and the wind is swirling and howling! But yet I am still dry!

6:28 I enter the building, heart pounding, yet safe and DRY giving thanks for safety and being dry.

6:29 No exaggeration; sixty seconds later the sky opens and it is pouring a "gully washer"! Lightening is striking everywhere! The wind is howling and the black sky is on the ground! It is terrifying BUT by the grace of YAH I stand there dry and safe.

I prayed for a sign and YAH gave it; in one awesome display! Praise YAH!

You YAH indeed are taking care of us and will take care of us in ways that we can only imagine.

Today I pray; MAY WE ALL; hear -The-VOICE-, discern and instantly obey! Amen!

23. Rather, what I did order them was this: ‘Pay attention to what I say. Then I will be your Elohim, and you will be my people. In everything, live according to the way that I order you, so that things will go well for you.’
